Church News & Events
Cookies! The Rev. Bill Wells has requested cookies for the prison ministry which he will be attending next week (May 7-11). He will pick them up on Wednesday, May 7 in the morning from the Parish House. Please label & put them on the counter or in the freezer at the Parish House.
Goochland Cares Local churches and organizationshave been asked by Goochland Cares to consider donating non-perishable food items:
“In 2024 Goochland Cares provided food for over 2500 residents struggling with hunger, including children and seniors. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits were cut at the beginning of 2022 and we have seen the need for food assistance increase by 50%. We anticipate that demand will not subside in the foreseeable future.”
The St. John’s Vestry agreed to place a basket in the Narthex to collect non-perishable food items and also hygiene items like toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, diapers, etc. Maureen Harris has agreed to take the basket to the donation center on a monthly basis.
A list of appropriate items will be posted in the next newsletter as well as on the bulletin board in the Narthex.
Bulletin Board volunteer needed! Please see Leanora Johnson if you would like to volunteer to be the “keeper of the bulletin board” in the church narthex. Items that always need to be on the board are: monthly church newsletter, quarterly service participant list, approved monthly vestry minutes and financial report, plus periodic items of interest (dated). It needs to be kept current and fresh! Items of interest can periodically be taken down and maintained in a 3-ring notebook. May need a bigger, better bulletin board if space allows!
